No Grand Pianos Please

As you can imagine, there is A LOT of paperwork associated with moving to China.  Actually, there's a lot of paperwork with international moving, period.  But I'm talking about this move...

We have to list every electronic device that we're bringing, and it's size and type (ie, 19-inch LCD TV).  They need to know what the predominent material is of all furniture that we might be bringing (which, fortunately, is very little).  We're limited to 100 DVD's, CD's videos, etc...good thing that I have an iPod  And the import of copy machines is strictly prohibited...YIKES...I'm sure that probably also means scanners.  Can you imagine?

I can accept that we're not allowed to import rice (obviously), but there's one thing that seriously caught my eye, and it's not even an issue for us.

On three different forms, and specifically noted...The import of a grand piano is strictly prohibited.

Why?

We're buying the family a digital piano for Christmas, so this raised a flag with us, but I think we're fine.

I guess the long and short of it is that the viewing of these forms was the stark reality that we are going to a seriously controlled environment...

I've been told that the expat living conditions are amazing...can't wait to find out!

57 days to move date...
